Bright red wines are the fresh light reds, food-friendly and versatile, perfect in the summer slightly chilled and at the Thanksgiving table, but have the seriousness to drink all year long.

Food Pairing and Preparation: Bright wines are food boundary- crossers, pairing beautifully with strong-flavored fishes, seared or smoked. Crustaceans. Cured meats or soft cheeses. Baked, sautéed or roasted chicken, pork or veal prepared with savory herbs, tomatoes, garlic or shallots bring out the best in these wines.

  • Chateau du Chatelard Morgon

  • Of the ten Beaujolais crus, Morgon is typically the biggest and most important.  The closest in style to a Burgundy, it is considered notably denser and longer lived than most Cru Beaujolais.  Under the watchful eye of a woman winemaker, the Chateau Chatelard offers a bottling that it is true to form!  Dazzling on the nose with fantastic fruit and red cherry and blackberry, this bottle has size and tannin while remaining bright and elegant.  Terrific with a tagine, and of course a roasted chicken or turkey.

    Variety: Gamay Noir

    Region: Morgon, Beaujolais, France

    Vintage: 2016
