La Lecciaia is a small producer with fewer than thirty acres of vines for their Brunello. However, inside the famous walled village, there is a single, special vineyard whose fruit is reserved for its top cuvée, the Manapetra. With plenty of meat on its bones, this wine has notes of cherries, rustic herbs, and tobacco. It’s a Riserva, with two years of added ageing. The palate is firm but vibrant with plenty of fruit, sufficient tannins, and a long dry finish. Great with gamey meats, try it with rabbit, wild boar, or lamb.
