It's made by Antonio Vence, a hobbyist txakoli producer turned vermouth producer out of Bizkaia. The guy is a total amaro-head, so he set out to make a fortified wine with his txakoli that would be popular in the area. Though txurrut is a pretty classic spanish sipping vermouth, some worm-woody bitterness in txurrut is a clear nod to amaro.
About half of the txakoli comes from his vineyards along with the orange peel (Antonio is the only person anyone knows with orange trees in Basque Country), lemon, and cherry. He keeps the rest of the herb blend secret.
