“Super Tuscan” is a term created by famed wine-writer Hugh Johnson. Impressed by producers growing international varieties outside of DOCG rules and making wine that far outshined the mere “Toscana” designation, he coined a name that honors the depth, complexity, and power these wines exhibit. Indeed, they are SUPER! The Poggio alla Guardia is deep, dark, and rich; the palate is full with plums, cloves, and silky tannins. Have it with steak, lasagna, or Piave Vecchio!
