From the cooler, northern-facing slopes of the Sierra de La Demanda, the grapes here come entirely from vines planted between 1940 and 1955 at the high elevation of almost 2,300 ft. They ripen later, but with a juice that is so concentrated and expressive. Then, aged for two years in stainless steel, followed by four years in a combination of French and American oak, this wine has dark fruit flavors, strong tannins, a long finish, and a depth that is truly expressive. Enjoy it with grilled red meats, barbecue, or a medium-rare seasoned steak.
